Men and women who have substance use disorder, mood disorders, trauma, anxiety disorders and sex / love addiction.

What levels of care are offered by Transcend?

We provide structured sober living, long term mentoring and outpatient services.

What is the average age of the clients at Transcend?

It varies from month to month and from house to house. The average range is 18 – 35 years old with the mean age falling somewhere around 24.

What is the average length of stay at Transcend?

The average client stays about 5 months. Many stay past 5 months but in terms of commitment, we re-assess a month at a time. The time frame is based on each clients particular recovery goals. Some clients accomplish their goals rather quickly and some need more prolonged community exposure and support.

Can I have my cell phone or computer?

When a client enters Transcend we allow them to use both their cell phone and computer unless their previous treatment center’s exit plan recommends that they don’t. Also if we feel a client is isolating or in danger, we do reserve the right to restrict or take them away.

Does Transcend have a Family Weekend or do any work with the family?

Transcend has a family weekend every other month for all Transcend families and it is provided at no additional cost. We have a dedicated Family Director who provides support and helps to set new goals for the entire family. There is also weekly family communication to keep the family abreast of progress made by their loved one.

Do your houses need any licensing to operate?

We do not provide either medical or therapeutic treatment so no state board offers a license. We are members of The Sober Living Coalition which is a governing body that has yearly inspections and standards for quality.

What is your smoking policy?

Our clients are allowed to smoke but encouraged not to. We have one designated smoking area in each house and offer a lecture on smoking cessation twice a month.

How are meals handled by Transcend?

We provide everything for the clients to prepare breakfast and lunch for themselves. Dinner is provided by our private chef who prepares dinner Monday through Friday. Saturdays we order out together as a house and Sundays we appoint a few clients to make dinner for the whole house and walk them through that process.

Do the clients handle their own chores?

Each client is given a house chore which takes no longer than 20 minutes. We also ensure that their bedrooms and bathrooms are clean before they leave the house in the morning. In addition, we have a housekeeping crew that provides thorough cleaning once a week.

Does Transcend provide a therapist or psychiatrist?

We have a vast network of clinicians that provide services at their outside costs. We provide all the accountability, community and support.

Is there a physical activity component to Transcend?

We provide a gym membership to a luxury boutique gym that provides all access to a full boxing academy, yoga and circuit training as well as traditional gym equipment. Many of our clients surf or want to learn. We employ certified surf instructors who provide surf lessons weekly and we have surfboards and wetsuits available. This is at no additional cost. We believe whole-heartedly that physical fitness is a key factor in developing a full and sober life.

Does Transcend help the clients find a job?

Yes, when they are ready to look for work we will help them create a resume and walk through the process of getting a job. We have relationships with different businesses in the area and can help prepare clients for job interviews. We feel it’s important to empower clients by helping them find employment.

Does Transcend help the clients enroll in school?

Yes, we will walk them through that entire process. There are often other students in the house to support clients with their educational goals.

Will Transcend help them find a volunteer program?

Yes, we work with different volunteer programs and will match the clients up with a cause they feel passionately about.

Can Transcend help with letters to courts and such?

Yes, we are happy to furnish a letter to any court about the clients stay at Transcend.

Does Transcend provide 24/7 Staff?

Yes, we employ 3 full shifts of staff members per day including an awake graveyard shift that makes hourly rounds, logs them and sends the logs to the Program Director of the house in the morning.

How long has Transcend been open?

Transcend has been open since April of 2009.

What happens after a client is with Transcend? How does the client transition out of the house?

Many of our clients go on to our Mentoring program. We feel that the transition into independent living is crucial, and the Mentoring program effectively smooths the transition to help ensure a clients long-term sobriety. You can learn more about Transcend’s Mentoring program here.
