Transcend Staff and Clients serve the Needy on Thanksgiving

Transcend Recovery Community

This past week Transcend clients and staff participated for the 2nd year in O.P.C.C’s Thanksgiving meal. Over 300 dinners were prepared and served to some of Santa Monica’s most needy. Giving back to the community and helping those less fortunate is extremely gratifying. It goes a long way in helping us think about others and what we can do to help. The feeling of gratitude was expressed not only by the people lining up for their turkey meal but by the Transcend volunteers. Grateful that we are doing something positive for someone else. Grateful for all the blessings that we have such as a home, a family to spend the holidays with, food. These things should not be taken for granted. Many of the needy that we were feeding struggle with the same issues.  Addiction to drugs and alcohol leads many to lose everything, especially hope. Although the similarities might not always seem that obvious they do exist.

Helping others should not be a once year event. It is cornerstone to any program of recovery. Transcend has been working together with O.P.C.C for close to three years. Clients volunteer at the intake center. Helping distribute food, clothes, hygiene items. It has been very rewarding for Transcend to help our community and look forward to doing our part as an organization and as individuals.
